Eleanor Friedberger, the sister side of The Fiery Furnaces family band, seems to have found some kind of missing link between Destroyer’s Kaputt and Beach House’ Teen Dream. Her debut solo album Last Summer (click here for full stream on Merge Records) is awash with the kind of warm synthy/moogy sounds coupled with honeyed pop tunes designed, surely to rule the airwaves. Well, if not it’ll just be another crime against great pop music but at least we’ll be there right?
I’m coming to this record late as you can tell, the gig’s tomorrow but what the hell, you should all be going, remember it begins at 8pm. Now get into My Mistakes…hot dang it perfect and then it’s followed by Inn Of The Seventh Ray which uh, whatever, it’s great.
